In a statement, two former ministers from the Luxembourg Socialist Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP) announced that they will step down from their board positions at East West United Bank and Sistema, respectively.
Jeannot Krecké, the former Minister of the Economy, was active at East West United Bank, while former Deputy Prime Minister Etienne Schneider held a position with the Russian conglomerate Sistema.
Ever since Russia decided to invade Ukraine, both men have been publicly criticised for holding on to their positions.
Both Krecké and Schneider have now stepped down from their positions after days of "working in the best interest of employees and their families in Luxembourg". The statement further notes that both former politicians "hope that this unacceptable and cruel war will end quickly".
