Luxembourg's red weather alert was lifted at 6pm, with the interior ministry saying the situation was calmer than forecast.
Winds of up to 100-120 km/h were expected, but gusts did not exceed 100 km/h, according to a press statement.
The red alert was in place on Friday afternoon. The Ministry of the Interior has recommended that residents remain indoors during that time. Meteolux had updated the alert level from orange to red after a change in the intensity of the wind.
Significant damage is likely and authorities have warned people to watch out for falling trees and roof tiles, while drivers should be especially cautious.
The CGDIS responded to 49 events related to the weather. Nobody was injured.
Air and rail traffic may still be disrupted as a result of the powerful storm, which is affecting large parts of western Europe.
Parks closed
The City of Luxembourg announced all parks and green areas would be closed until further notice out of precaution.
