The University of Luxembourg is still among the best universities founded in the last fifty years, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking.
Although the University of Luxembourg (Uni.lu) has dropped from 12th to 25th place in the ranking, it remains among the best young institutions worldwide.
"Universities are judged on their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international perspectives" explain the authors of the Times Higher Education report.
Uni.lu has fallen back on the criteria of 'teaching' and 'citations', but has made progress in the area of 'research'. Its large number of foreign students has enabled it to score points.
Despite its decline, Luxembourg remains well placed given its relatively recent founding: the university only dates back to 2003. In 2022, 539 universities were included in the comparison, compared with 475 the previous year.
