On Tuesday morning, the director of the business federation Fedil sat down for an interview at RTL Radio.
Winkin first addressed the recent IPCC report on climate change and expressed his hopes that the topic will continue to get traction in the foreseeable future. He explained that Fedil in its role as a business federation will not question any of the scientific findings, but rather focus on implementing solutions.
Nevertheless, Winkin also emphasised that the report has made it clear that an internationally coordinated strategy is necessary, one which goes beyond Europe. Furthermore, sectors need concrete ideas on how to improve their productions without damaging the environment, given that many of them only have a vague idea about the number of necessary changes.

Winkin therefore spoke about potential measures that could be implemented right away, such as a progressive CO2 tax with "double incentives", or increased use of electric machineries instead of carbon-based equipment.
The Fedil director also elaborated that for certain sectors, reducing or abolishing CO2 emissions is simply impossible. At the same time, he showed understanding for future generations who argue that society's consumerist tendencies need to drastically change.
