
On Thursday, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the board of the Luxembourg Association of Cities and Municipalities (Syvicol) agreed on a date for the next municipal elections: 11 June 2023.
In this context, amendments to the electoral law of February 2003 and the communal law of December 1988 are to be announced “shortly”, according to a press release from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Voters will thus be called to vote on a Sunday, as is the tradition. It is to be expected that the municipal elections will influence the strategy of the political parties for the next legislative elections (October 2023).
As a reminder, municipal elections are held every six years in Luxembourg, while legislative elections are held every five years.
