
The Council stated that the reform will lead to an increased liberalisation of the taxi industry.
In particular, it praises the abolishment of the limitation on issued taxi licences, and the lifting of the country’s division into different zones. Speaking on behalf of the Council, Jean-Claude Weidert stated that both of these points had already been the subject of criticism during the last taxi reform five years ago.
It is expected that more competition will lead to innovation and thus ultimately to a better service for customers.
