During the week of 19-25 April, a total of 284 cases of coronavirus were reported in the country’s schools. These infections affected both pupils and teachers.

Of these infections, 270 were scenario 1, i.e. an isolated case resulting from a contamination outside the school, without propagation inside the school. 72 primary schools, 31 secondary schools, and two competence centres were affected.

Eight cases were scenario 2, i.e. a maximum of two positive cases in one class.

No cases of scenario 3 (three to five infections in one class) were recorded last week.

One scenario 4 case with six infections was reported during this first week of school after the Easter holidays. An outbreak was detected in one school, Lycée Vauban.

A number of students from different classes had gathered for a private party on 16 April and tested positive as a result. The affected classes were either quarantined (three classes) or isolated from the other classes (one class).

The organisation and pedagogical concept of Lycée Vauban favours the mixing of students from different classes of the same grade each day. It was therefore decided that as a precautionary measure, all of the Lycée’s senior classes were quarantined from 25 to 29 April inclusive.
