Bertrange has been declared Luxembourg's most expensive municipality in terms of buying prices for new apartments.
A surprise for everyone who thought Luxembourg City would take the throne. According to the "Housing Observatory", Bertrange has the highest average prices for new apartments in all of Luxembourg.
The square-metre price is estimated to be around €11,790, which means that Bertrange surpassed the capital's average of €11,469 in 2020. Looking at price ranges, the cost per m2 went as high as €15,353 in Bertrange compared to €14,217 in Luxembourg City.

Luxembourg City meanwhile remains the most expensive location in terms of existing apartments. The Housing Observatory estimates that the average price per square metre is around €10,263, compared to €10,088 in Bertrange.
Julien Licheron, research fellow from the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) and former coordinator of the Housing Observatory, notes how the density of locations can influence the square-metre price. Given that most existing apartments in the capital are smaller, this naturally drives up the price.
Bertrange, Strassen, and Luxembourg City have been conducting a close race in recent years when it comes to the highest prices for new apartments, and it is highly likely that the scale will be tipped into another direction again in the near future, Licheron further explained.
