The global awareness week, which begins today, is entitled “Vaccines bring us closer together”.
In the context of the awareness week, public health officials in Luxembourg are reminding people born after 1980 to get their second dose of the combined vaccine for measles, mumps, and rubella. These diseases are known to be highly contagious among adults and are often accompanied by severe complications.
The appeal is considered to be urgent, given that cases of measles among adults have been on the rise.
In the context of the awareness campaign, Minister of Health Paulette Lenert underlined the efficacy of vaccines in saving lives, especially those of babies and infants. She further stated that their effectiveness is proven.
