RTL Today - Bourg buys a castle: Luxembourgish entrepreneur Jos Bourg named new proprietor of Birtrange Castle

The sale is now official - Birtrange Castle has been sold to Jos Bourg, an entrepreneur from Ettelbruck.

The Ettelbruck-born businessman was the highest bidder for the property, which encompasses the castle and the surrounding land.

He saw off a handful of competitors, including the five Nordstad municipalities, to become Birtrange Castle's latest owner.

Although Bourg was overcome by the 85 hectares of grass and woods included in the property, the castle was the cherry on top. The retired entrepreneur said he would use the historical building for living purposes, beginning renovation work shortly.

The work will be conducted with the assistance of the Department of National Sites and Monuments, to preserve the castle's protected status as a national heritage property.
