On Saturday, the former chief financial inspector and composer of the infamous "Waringo report" sat down for an interview with RTL Radio.
"I really appreciate the mission I was given at the Grand Ducal court and I am happy to see that my report has been implemented. I absolutely wanted to contribute and help create a more stable environment", Waringo concluded during the interview.
In all honesty, he explained that he himself prefers a republic with a democratically elected head of state, but acknowledged that a constitutional monarchy also has a number of advantages. Waringo emphasised that throughout his investigation, he had the full support of Grand Duke Henri.

During his time at court, Waringo did indeed determine that there were a number of inappropriate interventions from the Grand Duchesse, which should have been handled by her husband as part of his mission. An assertion that the investigator later noted down in his report. However, he also underlined that he never witnesses any instances of physical violence.
Waringo also talked about a recent article that appeared in Paris Match, which accused him of misogynistic behaviour. He explained that he was disappointed by it, as it could not be further away from the truth.
Waringo finally concluded that his report was not to be seen as a bible and should still be interpreted and implemented with great care: "I think that the atmosphere at court has become more calm again, and I can assure that Prime Minister Bettel never tried influencing me or my mission at any stage."
