Market researcher TNS Ilres expects 18,000 car sales as part of Autofestival 2021, basing its findings on a representative survey sent out to 500 residents.

The survey predicts a good year for the automobile market compared to 2020.

27% of respondents had planned to purchase a new car this year, two-thirds of which would do so during the car festival. The researcher predicts a total sale of 57,000 cars this year.

Autofestival 2021 expects 60,000 visitors to attend this year.
As for the type of car, petrol is still far ahead, but interest in alternatives are on the rise. Every second respondent says that a hybrid or electric car is being considered.

The top four car brands for Luxembourg’s customers are all German.

Due to the pandemic there has been a sharp rise in demand for online shopping. As one can imagine however, buying a car purely online is still a little far-fetched, according to survey respondents: 65% would not purchase a car on the web. Here, too, it is noticeable that women tend to be a little more critical than men in their quest to find a new car.
