These are the measures that were announced by Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and Minister of Health Paulette Lenert in Tuesday's press conference, in place until 31 January.
- Non-essential stores may reopen. This also includes hairdressers. Rules will remain tight for stores, however, as they may only allow one customer per 10 square metres at all times.
- The hospitality sector remains closed until 31 January - two weeks longer than planned.
- Curfew pushed back to 11pm. Lenert says it has had an effect, the police have not reported a huge wave of infractions, and she believes restricting nightlife to this extent has helped to reduce the spread of the virus among social groups.
- A maximum of two members of a single household are allowed to be invited over.
- Gyms are expected to reopen as of Monday. Competitions, both indoor and outdoor ones, will be allowed to resume, but without spectators. Swimming pools will also be allowed to reopen, though with a maximum of 6 people per 50-metre lane, or 3 people per 25-metre lane.
- Alcohol will remain prohibited in public spaces.
- Home-office remains the standard when possible.
- Schools and nurseries will reopen on Monday.
- Theatres and cinemas may reopen on Monday, but masks must be worn at all times. Maximum 100 people.
- Gatherings of over 100 people remain prohibited. There are exceptions for markets and those exercising their right to hold demonstrations.
The press conference is over, but the English ticker translations remain.
The Health Commission will meet at 4pm on Tuesday to review the text, prior to the State Council on Wednesday. The Chamber is expected to meet at the end of the week, or even during the weekend, to vote on the bill.
