The State Council will convene on Tuesday morning to discuss future steps in the fight against the pandemic. Ministers Bettel and Lenert are expected to inform the public about their decision later the same day.

The administration needs to assess whether or not the current Covid measures need to be prolonged, augmented, or softened, as they are only in place for another week.

It remains unclear if schools will reopen or if remote learning will still be implemented throughout the country. Similarly, a decision needs to be taken on non-essential shops, bars and restaurants, as well as the curfew.

If the current measures are to be prolonged, the Chamber of Deputies needs to convene and vote them into law before the end of the week. A respective session has not yet been scheduled.

On Tuesday, the State Council will meet, before the Chamber is informed about a potential decision at noon. A joint press briefing between Prime Minister Bettel and Minister of Health Lenert is scheduled for 2pm on Tuesday.

According to RTL sources, it is highly likely that the current model of restrictions will be extended for another three weeks until the end of January.
