Restrictions on ChristmasLSAP accuses ADR of cynicism

RTL Today
While the ADR called for an easing of restrictions over Christmas, the LSAP highlighted the number of deaths in the Grand Duchy and criticised the ADR's wording used online.

The ADR party has published a slogan to ‘not let Christmas die’ on their site, following their message to the government. The party called for a lifting of the curfew on Christmas Day, but also to allow public church services. The party claims that the government has no right to interfere with private lives.

Yves Cruchten, the LSAP president, responded to this on Facebook by labelling the ADR slogan as ‘pure cynicism’ and referred to all the families, the ill, and the frontline workers that have suffered from the pandemic this year.

Cruchten stresses that nobody is happy of the restrictions over the holidays. Even if one does not agree with the measures, the common goal is to prevent further suffering. The ADR slogan is also a macabre play on words, according to Cruchten. Up until now, 392 people have died of Covid-19 in Luxembourg.
