Forced recovery of social security contributionsTrade union LCGB criticises position of Union of Luxembourg Enterprises

RTL Today
The Luxembourg Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (LCGB) deplores the fact that since the end of October companies and self-employed workers may once again be forced to repay their arrears of social security contributions.

In a statement published on Tuesday morning, the trade union criticised the position of the employers represented by the Union of Luxembourg Enterprises (UEL), which refuses to hold a tripartite meeting on the subject.

The LCGB does not understand why the UEL can accept that companies should be forced to pay their arrears in the current, particularly difficult, context.

Although the Joint Social Security Centre (CCSS) provides a temporary exemption for companies affected by the partial lockdown, the union warns of a wave of bankruptcies. It calls for a more nuanced approach as well as a tripartite meeting on the matter.
