The measures are too intrusive and incoherent, and must be more focused, Kartheiser argues, adding that more must be done to protect the older population.
“There has to be an opposition party that questions what is justified and what is reasonable,” Kartheiser said in an interview on Monday morning with RTL. There is a fine line between protecting the health of citizens and intruding their privacy, but at some point this line is passed.
Kartheiser furthermore criticised Minister of Family and Integration Corinne Cahen for not giving clear instructions to care homes. Lydia Mutsch, the current health minister’s predecessor, was also criticised by the ADR MP for lowering the number of hospital beds while in office. Luxembourg must build up its reserves, especially in the health sector, Kartheiser believes.
The ADR opposes mandatory vaccination, but of course the party is “happy, once the vaccine comes”. But one must remain vigilant as the vaccine is in its early stages. The government must guarantee its safety and extensive testing, he concludes.
