The new report "PIB Bien-être 2020" by Statec was published on Friday.
The lockdown and health measures contributed to a decrease in income for one in six people in the country. The same number said they felt an effect on their physical health. Naturally, financial difficulties also have an impact on general life satisfaction.
One resident in four declared that their life was less satisfying than pre-Covid. Especially young respondents between 15 and 34 years saw their well-being continually decrease during the first weeks of lockdown.

The health crisis also has psychological effects on the population. The Statec took a closer look at the impact of the lockdown on social relations. 21 percent, so around one in five, indicated that they felt lonelier than before. This feeling of solitude was more pronounced among those under 35, students, men and less well-off people. During normal times, only around 5 percent of people say they feel lonely.
