LuxembourgNo new measures introduced to combat the virus

RTL Today
The Luxembourgish government has decided against putting further measures in place to fight the increasing coronavirus numbers.

According to the Minister of Health, the situation has stabilised, but the fight is far from over.

Paulette Lenert explained in an interview with RTL that we might be over the peak of this second wave, but one would have to wait a few more days to be certain.

The authorities base their forecast on the reproduction rate, which indicates an improvement. It is falling back to a value close to 1, compared to last week’s 1.6 value. The percentage of people testing positive in the large-scale testing is also starting to decrease.

The Minister stresses that these results clearly are not yet sufficient, and that a real drop in new infections is needed to confirm this trend. A drop is expected in the coming days, and the government will meet mid next week to review the situation.

Authorities still hope that the message is clear, and that measures remain well respected by the population. Should this be the case, the situation could improve significantly.
