The Minister for Energy and Minister for Spatial Planning tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Turmes reportedly is not showing any symptoms and feels well. He will be in isolation until 8 October, according to a press release issued by the government.

The minister was tested on Friday 25 September after being in contact with a person who had subsequently tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Turmes then placed himself in quarantine, and had a second Covid-19 test four days later, which yielded the positive result. As he was already in quarantine, there is thought to be no risk of him having spread the virus further.

Turmes also took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to Luxembourg's healthcare workers.
