The Chamber's education commission discussed the issue on Monday morning, minister Claude Meisch emphasising that with isolated cases of infection, one had to assume that the virus had not been passed on inside the classroom. A full quarantine would therefore not be considered an appropriate measure. Instead, a partial quarantine would be initiated, meaning that both pupils and teachers can continue going to school, just like they can leave the house to see a doctor. Meisch further noted that in such cases, masks would have to be worn at all times inside the classrooms.
The opposition criticised this procedure, underlining that it implies a person is not allowed to go shopping, but has to show up for work nevertheless. Meisch responded to this statement by explaining that the schools' safety regulations would be rigorous and that the system could not experience too many interruptions for the benefit of pupils. He also acknowledged that simply from a logistical perspective, isolated cases could not be followed by complete quarantine procedures.
