Recently, it has been brought into question whether the estate belonged to the Grand Ducal court or the Luxembourgish state.
For decades, members of the Grand Ducal family have spent their summer holidays in an estate located on the French Riviera. In recent days, a controversy has arisen over who actually owns this place.
In his reply to a parliamentary question by Pirate Party MP Marc Goergen, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel stated that Grand Duchess Charlotte acquired the estate in the early 1950s. It is therefore the private property of the Grand Ducal family, which in turn means that the estate does not belong to the Luxembourgish state.
