
The motorist, who was intoxicated at the time, ignored the warning lights at the level crossing and drove past the barrier as the train approached. Upon seeing the train, the driver attempted to reverse, but it was too late - the train struck the car and pushed it back beyond the barrier.
Miraculously, the driver emerged without a scratch, although his vehicle suffered material damage.
When police arrived on the scene, he confessed to driving under the influence, and his licence was withdrawn. A report was also made.
