Starting on Friday, people will only be able to cross the border between Luxembourg and Germany in seven places.

On Thursday, the German government opted to reduce the number of crossing points on the borders with Luxembourg, France, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland. All other borders are to be closed due to the coronavirus.

The following crossing points are still open for Luxembourg:

A 64 (Mesenich) - A1 motorway towards Germany
B 419 Wellen - Grevenmacher
B 419 Wincheringen - Wormeldange
B 418 Waasserbilligerbrück - Wasserbillig
B 257 (E29) Echternachbrück - Echternach (over the bridge)
B 407 / B 419 Perl-Schengen / Perl Apach (Kreisverkehr Dreiländereck) - Schengen
A 8 (Perl-Schengen) - A13 Schengen towards the A8 to Perl

Depending on the amount of traffic, other crossing points could be temporarily opened.
