
Initially, pupils expected to return to school on Monday 30 March.
However, due to more stringent measures, the government has taken the decision to extend the closure until after the Easter holidays. Schools will now be closed for a total of five weeks.
On Wednesday evening, the Ministry of Education announced it would be impossible to reopen schools, crèches and other childcare establishments by the end of the month.
The decision to extend the closure will affect all public and private schools, training establishments and reception structures.
The ministry added that the Health Inspectorate will continue to monitor the situation, and school reopening dates can be adapted according to the evolution of the epidemic.
On Wednesday morning, the Ministry of Education announced that the first exams would be adapted, while orientation for primary school leavers would be based on assessments if the tests could not take place.
