The municipal council released an official statement on Saturday.

The outdoor pool in Vianden will remain closed this summer. The pool has been subject to an operating permit since 2012, but has thus far been able to open its doors each summer without the required authorisations by the municipality.

Following an incident last summer in which a boy nearly drowned, safety measures had to be reviewed. The Inspectorate of Labour and Mines gave the pool six months' time to comply with safety laws.

The results of an audit ordered by the municipality show that a range of issues have to be solved and the entire area has to be sanitised, which takes time and effort. However, the aim is for the pool in Vianden to re-open as soon as possible.
