The police have released an urgent call for members of the public to remove their cars from car parks in Ettelbruck and Mersch as soon as possible following the overnight floods.

A number of roads were closed on Tuesday due to flooding, and police have also warned of flooding in car parks in Ettelbruck and Mersch.

In Ettelbruck, the Däichwisen car park has been affected by floods, after water levels rose to almost 3 metres at the measuring station. Warning levels usually rest around 2.3 metres.

Motorists in Mersch have also been asked to remove their vehicles from the “Lohr”, and “Schlasspech” car parks. Mersch police are on the scene.

The Attert river has reached warning levels in Bissen as well, resulting in road closures.

The Moselle is continuing to rise.

In Grevenmacher the water levels have reached over 6 metres, twice as high as normal levels. Stadtbredimus has also seen higher than average flooding levels.

Part of the esplanade in Remich is under water, while other roads have been shut by the station and towards the N10.
