December 2020 should see passengers able to make the journey to the Gare Centrale by tram. Trams will run every three minutes in rush hour, with the journey taking 25 minutes.
More Park and Rides are to be implemented, such as the one by the Luxexpo. Other construction sites are also set to be completed by the end of the new year.
A 500-space car park will open on Kirchberg in 2020, although the exact date is unknown. The Park and Ride will be important for the completion of the tram.
Businesses currently affected by the ongoing construction work will receive better access.
The tram has also affected bus routes, as the tram route will travel down Avenue de la Liberté, allowing buses to pass down the Passerelle bridge in order to reach the station. The viaduct will be extended by 2.4 metres in width to allow for a cycle path and pavement to be added. These should open in January 2020, while all other work on the bridge is to be completed by the end of the year.
Another construction project set to be completed in 2020 is the new stadium. The 25,000 square metre stadium will seat 10,000 spectators and will hold football and rugby matches. The budget for the stadium has climbed from an initial estimate of 30-35 million euros to almost 80 million euros.
