Another cash machine was blown up in Mersch only two days after a similar incident in Remich.

A mere two days after an ATM was blown up in Remich, another incident has been reported in Mersch. The cash machine near Mersch's post office was found to be blown up on Thursday.  A police station is situated in proximity to the targeted cash machine, only located 100 metres away from the ATM.

A forensics team is currently at the scene. According to our sources, this is the sixth attack on a cashpoint in the last year and a half.

The police report that the events occurred early on Thursday morning at about 1.15 am. The suspects exploded the cash machine and stole the cash inside the machine. The explosion made debris fly all around the ATM, but thankfully there were no injuries.

The Mersch post office will remain closed until further notice. The police have now appealed for witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious between midnight and 2 am. Any residents who may have noticed a car in the vicinity or any suspicious individuals or vehicles should contact 113.

Later on Thursday afternoon, the police have specified they are seeking a metallic blue Ford Kuga with Belgian number plates 1HCK490.
