Three weeks ago, MPs rejected the possibility to make the Adapto service for disabled people free of charge. A new hope comes in the form of an online petition.

Petition 1329 is calling to make transport for those with reduced mobility free of charge. Published on 19 July, it has since garnered 3,950 signatures, which already amounts to 87% of the required 4,500 signatures.

Unlike regular public transport, which becomes free on 1 March 2020, the Adapto service for people with disabilities and reduced mobility will not be complimentary. Info-handicap outspokenly criticized this choice in early July.

With more than weeks to go until the petition closes for signatures, it is very likely that it will reach parliament - and offer a second chance to improve transportation of citizens with disabilities.
