The legal text 7425, filed by Minister of Justice Felix Braz in March, has been criticised by many, including the state council who discussed the law on Friday. The council formally opposed no less than 19 articles.
They disagreed with reviewed regulations for guns in the A category (automatic and semi-auto, revisions to agreements amongst gun dealers, and the fact that Luxembourg gun laws remain not in line with the general EU directive.
In particular, the council objects to the 'disproportionate violation' against individuals' rights if the relevant minister, as opposed to the public prosecutor, has to be notified by the police in case an individual who has been drinking is in possession of one or more guns.
