Elected officials of the municipality of Hesperange filed a complaint for "embezzlement of public funds" and "forgery and falsification of private and/or public documents".
In a statement released today, the town said it discovered that one of the debtors that owed them money "had not yet settled his commitments to the communal fund". Exchanges with said debtor revealed however, that while the sums had been paid, they had been deposited in to an account that did not belong to the commune.
Hesperange commune has specified that it has not yet been possible to identify the person who ordered the bank account switch. They also found that the account number had been used with two other suppliers.
The municipality filed a complaint with the examining magistrate against the unknown perpetrator. An investigation is necessary to determine the culprit.
