Many people gathered in order to say their final goodbyes to the former head of state.
From Monday to Friday people will be able to pay their last respects to the former head of state in the Palace.
The Grand Duke's coffin was transported from the Grand Ducal Castle to the Palace at 2.30pm on Sunday. The convoy passed through the city on Boulevard Royal, Rue Notre Dame, then Rue du Marché-aux-Herbes to the Palace. Above are our first photos of the procession, and below a video.
The chapel will be open to the public for 5 days, to pay tribute and sign the book of condolences. Dates are as follows:
Monday 2pm-7pm
Tuesday 10am-12pm and 2pm-7pm
Wednesday 10am-7pm
Thursday 10am-12pm and 2pm-7pm
Friday 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm
Condolence books will also be available at the Palace guard post, Colmar-Berg Castle, and Fischbach Castle.
The funeral will take place on Saturday 4 May 2019 at 11am in the cathedral. The public will be able to take part in the mass following the wishes of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, although spaces are limited.
