Luxembourg pays almost double the EU average.
A recent Eurostat study compiling the hourly rates across Europe (data relative to 2016) has found that Luxembourg is the highest paying country.
With an average compensation of 44 EUR per hour the GD is almost double the EU average.
The EU average, as a whole, is only €23.
Compared to our neighbours, France €32 Eur, Germany €31 and Belgium €31 Eur, Luxembourg's hourly rate is a third higher.
Bulgaria meanwhile pays a shocking €6 per hour.
Of course this range is skewed by cost of living and exorbitant housing prices but still the findings highlight a clear disconnect between the Grand Duchy and larger, less prosperous countries.
