Following an initial test phase of six months, the government believes the results of road markings addressed to motorcyclists in the north have been successful in reducing dangerous driving.
The new signs have been placed on the N25 between Wiltz and Kautenbach. According to the government's first observation of motorcyclist conduct on the road section, it appears that motorcyclists are driving more safely.
The roads and bridges authority believes that the new markings helps and guides motorcyclists by encouraging them to instinctively recenter themselves. Before the sign, 78% of motorcyclists drove in the yellow zone as seen on the image below, with barely 10% driving in the green zone and 12% in the red zone.
Since the introduction of the sign, 57% drive in the green zone and 42% drive in the yellow zone, with only 1% in the red zone. All in all, this shows a marked improvement.

The government will continue to monitor the section of the N25 in 2019 and will possibly apply the same type of markings to another section of a road frequently used by motorcyclists.
