At around 7.45pm on Monday, The Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL) reported an intervention by emergency services, which resulted in train traffic being suspended in both directions on line 10.

To ensure passengers could still reach their destination, replacement buses were put in place between Mersch and Luxembourg.

Teams from the Grand Ducal Fire and Recue Corps (CGDIS), the police, and the CFL were on site. At around 8.20pm, RTL was informed that trains were circulating again on a secondary track.

On Tuesday morning, the police released further details about the incident. A 55-year-old person had been struck by a train, and emergency responders were only able to confirm their death at the scene. On the orders of the public prosecutor, the forensics and identification unit attended the site. An autopsy was ordered.
