When a vulnerable person is eligible for phase 4 of the national vaccination campaign, they can ask their general practitioner to register them on the corresponding list.
However, despite the requests of those concerned, it seems that many doctors are not actually doing that.
This accusation was made on Thursday by the non-profit association Patiente Vertriedung, a patient advocacy group, which appealed to the Association of Doctors and Dentists (AMMD), to remind its members that this step must be taken by the doctor on behalf of their patient.
"It is simply unacceptable that without this cooperation, vulnerable people are being left behind", deplores the advocacy group, which called upon the Ministry of Health to give out clear explanations and guidelines to follow if a doctor refuses to register a patient for vaccination.
People who are considered moderately vulnerable according to the definition of phase 4b can be registered for the vaccination via their GP or specialist doctor from 1 April and will then receive an invitation by post.
This includes people with any of the following conditions: diabetes with or without insulin, cardio-neuro-vascular complications, complicated hypertension, stroke sequelae or associated heart disease, or neuromuscular disease with clinical impact.
