78 years ago, a mass execution took place at the Sonnenburg concentration camp in Poland, a horrific event which is commemorated in Luxembourg to this day.

819 prisoners died, including 91 Luxembourgers who had been imprisoned for refusing to fight for the German Wehrmacht.

On Sunday afternoon, a commemorative ceremony was held in Moutfort at the Michel Rodange secondary school.

Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Lex Delles and Chamber President Fernand Etgen were present, along with Minister of Health Paulette Lenert who assisted in a ceremony.

It was the biggest mass murder of Luxembourgers in World War II.
