Parliamentary question9,750 vaccine doses delivered to Luxembourg so far

RTL Today
The number of doses delivered to the Grand Duchy to date are enough to vaccinate 4,875 people, according to a response to a parliamentary question.

The current BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine requires a second dose after a 21-day interval, although some countries have chosen to delay follow-up doses in order to vaccinate more people quickly.

At present, the priority groups for the vaccine consist of healthcare employees, carers, nursing home employees, mobile care staff and residents in care homes.

The quantity delivered to date is therefore not sufficient to vaccinate all those in the categories listed above. The government said it expects to receive sufficient doses from BioNTech/Pfizer to vaccinate around 39,000 people by the end of March.

The EU approved the Moderna vaccine earlier this week. Although delivery dates are yet to be confirmed, Luxembourg is set to receive a significant number of doses in the coming months.

The information above was provided in response to an urgent parliamentary question posed by CSV MPs Hansen, Halsdorf and Wiseler.
