Authorities conducted surprise inspections at grocery stores and fast-food outlets across central and southeastern Luxembourg on Friday.
The large-scale inspection involved coordinated efforts between Luxembourg Police, the Customs and Excise Authority, and the Labour and Mines Inspectorate (ITM). Multiple officers were mobilised for this joint operation.
At one grocery store, inspectors seized approximately 600 kilogrammes of foodstuffs including fish, meat, vegetables, and spices due to multiple violations. The items showed problems with proper storage conditions, inadequate labelling, lack of traceability documentation, and irregular invoicing practices.
Additionally, authorities discovered alcoholic beverages that had not been properly declared.
