A further 58 firefighters are to join the ranks in the near future, said Minister for Home Affairs Taina Bofferding, in response to a parliamentary question posed by CSV MP  Françoise Hetto.

Bofferding said there were no current recruitment issues in relation to Hetto's question. Thus far, there had always been plenty of candidates for each available role.

Since 2013 the number of firefighters has risen alongside the creation of the CGDIS. In the the last ten years, 211 new posts have been made available.

The government will continue to work alongside municipalities to provide the necessary funds, so the CGDIS can continue to recruit the necessary staff, said the minister.
