The remaining four MPs for the Greens will move to sit with the other parties without factional strength in parliament - the Pirates and déi Lénk (the Left) - to the right of the Chamber president’s seat.
The CSV, with its majority of 21 MPs, will remain alongside them in their previous positions. Left of the Chamber president’s perch will be the ADR with their five MPs, a new faction in parliament. The LSAP and the DP will maintain their seats from the last legislative period.
Among the 46 MPs will be ten new faces, while the three ministers who were not re-elected - the DP’s Marc Hansen and the Greens’ Henri Kox and Claude Turmes - will be absent. The remaining 14 current ministers who were re-elected will continue to conduct government business until the new CSV-DP government is formed.
From Tuesday onwards, the Chamber president position will belong to CSV MP and mayor Michel Wolter, who will take over from Fernand Etgen. Wolter will be assisted by the LSAP’s Liz Braz and the DP’s Luc Emering. Prior to taking on his new role, Wolter will be sworn in by Luxembourg City mayor Lydie Polfer, one of the most experienced members of the Chamber.
