One week ago, the Council lamented that the administrative decision making process for international protection is currently “completely suspended”. The Ministry has now rejected these reproaches.

The Ministry did acknowledge that in the case of applicants who are at risk of being rejected, the authorities are currently awaiting more trustworthy information regarding the situation on the ground. This is “in the interest of the concerned applicants”, the Ministry stresses, pointing out that the judicial authorities agree with this stance.

On 15 August 2021, the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan and set up a new government. Thousands of people subsequently fled the country.
