
This information was provided by Minister for Family Affairs Corinne Cahen in a reply to a parliamentary question by MP Georges Engel from the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP).
As of December 2020, Luxembourg's retirement homes counted 3,457 residents. On average, they are 84 years old and stay for around five years.
As for nursing homes, Cahen stated that there were 2,305 residents in December 2020. They are on average 82 years old and stay for around three and a half years.
421 people were living in assisted-living homes around that same time period. On average, they are 74 years old and stay for about three years.
Around 1% of Luxembourg's population and around 6.6% of those over 65 lives in one of these structures.
