The new deadline was thus set for 31 December 2020.
In a recent parliamentary question, MP Marc Spautz from the Christina Social People’s Party (CSV) wanted to know whether this decision ended up having any effect.
According to figures provided by the National Employment Agency (Adem), 463 young people were looking for an apprenticeship as of 2 November 2020.
In their reply to Spautz’ question, Minister of Education Claude Meisch and Minister of Labour Dan Kersch state that until 4 January 2021, 243 people were able to benefit from the extended deadline and managed to find an apprenticeship.
As a result, 177 students did not find an apprenticeship. While some of them stopped altogether for various reasons, others benefited from assistance offered by Adem and many young people were also integrated into the programmes of the National Centre for Continuing Vocational Training (CNFPC) in their first year of study.
At the end of March, 107 young people were enrolled in the “Fit-4-Léier” programme while benefiting from continuous supervision and guidance.
