The Grand Ducal police held numerous traffic checks at schools around the country last month to mark the start of the new term. Officers issued nearly 400 warnings for incorrect parking, 230 fines for speeding, and 330 fines for drivers using their phones at the wheel.

Patrols also had to remind 90 people to wear their seatbelts while driving and to ensure they were using the correct car seat for their child.

As winter approaches, the Grand Ducal police has issued a reminder to drivers that children may not be easily visible on their way to school as the mornings get darker, and that young children in particular may not be familiar with the risks of the road. Motorists are encouraged to pay particular attention when travelling through areas around schools and to adapt their speed accordingly.
