Generally, the year was slightly milder than the 30-year reference period. However, all weather stations recorded a precipitation deficit over a seven-month stretch. By contrast, the year also featured episodes of extreme rainfall: January saw heavy downpours which, combined with snowmelt, led to flooding, while further inundations were reported in the Alzette valley in September following intense rainfall.
Despite the uneven patterns, the combination of heat and rainfall proved broadly favourable for agriculture. Harvests were strong for cereals, fruit and vegetables, and wine producers also reported a positive year, despite difficulties during the September grape harvest caused by heavy rains.
