RTL Today
The Chamber of Commerce emphasised the fragility of anticipated growth in 2024, asserting that the upcoming year will be crucial for economic development.

With many sectors, particularly in construction and industry, expressing pessimism about the future, the business community is looking to political leaders for support.

Anticipating growth at 1.4% of GDP, the Chamber of Commerce underscores the need for political backing from the new government to sustain a delicate economic trajectory. Key priorities outlined by the Chamber encompass taxation, labour organisation, energy transition, housing, and maintaining healthy public finances. Notably, discussions on pension reform slated for the upcoming year occupy a paramount position on the Chamber’s agenda.

While the Chamber acknowledges positive aspects of the coalition agreement, emphasis has shifted towards the swift implementation of outlined measures. Carlo Thelen, Director General of the Chamber of Commerce, stressed the necessity for a robust relaunch in 2024, urging the adoption of bold and ambitious initiatives. Thelen underscored the importance of a robust Luxembourgish economy to support the nation’s social model, emphasising the critical role of proactive measures in the coming year.
