
Among other things, the report notes that there was significantly less rainfall over the summer of 2020 compared to the past year's average. Rainfall was especially scarce in the south and along the Moselle river, despite precipitation being slightly above average in June.
Temperatures were generally above average (+0.7 °C), especially in August, which was the second highest since records began in 1838. The highest temperature of this summer was recorded in Steinsel on 9 August at 38.3°C.
On Wednesday 3 September, Minister of Agriculture Romain Schneider will hold a press conference alongside representatives of the sector to discuss the consequences for this year's harvest season.
