A series of police interventions from Friday evening through Saturday morning addressed drink-driving, with checks in Olm and Kehlen yielding multiple fines and separate incidents leading to immediate licence confiscations.
The police were kept busy on Friday night

Police conducted two roadside alcohol checks in the municipalities of Olm and Kehlen between Friday evening and Saturday morning. While nine drivers tested positive, no driving licences were confiscated during these operations.

The first check took place in Olm between 10.30pm and midnight on Friday, carried out by order of the public prosecutor’s office. Of 107 motorists tested, four returned positive results. Officers issued two fines for alcohol-related offences but did not confiscate any licences. A separate driver was fined €250 for operating a vehicle with an expired tax vignette for over 60 days.

A second check followed in Kehlen in the early hours of Saturday morning, from 1am to 2.30am, also under prosecutor’s orders. Police checked 63 drivers, with five testing positive. Fines were issued in each case, though again no licences were withdrawn. An additional motorist received a €74 fine for driving with an invalid tax vignette.

Licences confiscated in separate incidents

Elsewhere in the country, police intervened in additional instances of impaired driving.

At approximately 9.30pm on Friday in Hoscheid-Dickt, officers observed a vehicle swerving erratically and repeatedly crossing into oncoming traffic. The driver was stopped shortly afterward and had their driving licence confiscated immediately.

In a separate incident early Saturday morning on the N14, police discovered a vehicle parked on the roadside with two occupants asleep inside. An inspection revealed both individuals were under the influence of alcohol. The driver had their licence confiscated and was issued a temporary driving ban.
